EN 99 ~ Basic English (No Credit)
This is a study of grammar and sentence construction and is required of students who do not pass the English Placement Test. (No credit)
EN 101 ~ Grammar & Composition I (3 hours)
Prerequisite: A passing score on the EN 99 section of the English Placement Test or a passing grade in EN 99. This course is a review of basic grammar and mechanics of the English language.
EN 102 ~ Grammar & Composition II (3 hours)
Prerequisite: A passing score on the EN 101 section of the English Placement Test or a passing grade in EN 101. This course continues to review English grammar while beginning a study of composition. The course emphasizes writing with clarity and conciseness.
EN 103 ~ Grammar & Composition III (3 hours)
Prerequisite: A passing grade in EN 102. This course, assuming a comprehensive knowledge of English grammar, stresses effective organization and significant content in writing. Students will be required to write a research paper.
EN 200 ~ Biographies of Great Men (2 hours)
This course is a study of the lives of Christian leaders, pastors, evangelists, and missionaries who have had outstanding testimonies for Christ.
EN 302 ~ American Literature (3 hours)
This course is a survey of great American literature from the colonial period to the present and an examination of its relationship and value to the historical period in which it was written.
EN 303 ~ English Literature (3 hours)
This course is a survey of English literature and the relationship of the literature surveyed to the time in which it was written, as well as its value in history and in the present.
EN 304 ~ Professional Communication (2 hours)
This course is a workshop in developing communication skills as a public speaker with a special emphasis on tactfully handling delicate situations.
EN 305 ~ Homiletics I (2 hours)
This is a study of the preparation and delivery of sermons which deals with selecting and developing a topic as well as the delivery of the message

EN 306 ~ Homiletics II (2 hours)
This is a continued study of the preparation and delivery of sermons which includes practice preaching.
EN 307 ~ Biographies of Great Missionaries (2 hours)
This course specifically studies the lives of great missionaries who have had an outstanding impact on the mission fields to which God called them.
EN 401 ~ Creative Writing (3 hours)
This course is a study and practice of various literary tools for creative writing with an emphasis on original composition.
EN 402 ~ Literary Criticism (3 hours)
This course presents various methods of critiquing selected works including poems, essays, and fiction.
EN 403, 404 ~ Advanced Grammar and Composition I and II (2 hours)
Prerequisite: EN 102. This is a detailed study of grammar and the elements of composition.
EN 423 ~ Introduction to Shakespeare (2 hours)
This course is an introduction to Shakespeare’s major plays and sonnets and the Renaissance culture in which Shakespeare flourished. The format for this class is discussion and performance.
